Monday 17 Apr: Onshore fades with a big rainstorm and the arvo glass off, 3-4 slow surf to end the week.
Tuesday 18 Apr: Early morning from the deck sees similar surf conditions to late Monday surf. Another early morning rain shower dampens down the swell but it’s remaining 3-4 foot on the outside peak and the tide is too low for Kiddies Corner with waves tending to break wide of the best part of the reef, so a congregation of early morning surfers on the peak, swell increase during the day with some fun waves to 4 feet with some bigger sets, little crowds, with the wind moving around the bay but not adversely affecting conditions
Wednesday 19 Apr: Nice sunny morning, no rain overnight, great hot morning on the point with clear skies and the early morning seeing crisp waves rolling around the point, no swell increase with set wave inconsistent 3-4 foot. No great change during the day steady waves on all the tides and wind which has been slight puffing from all directions, presently little people around and Sorake as KabuNohi is quiet, our daily activities besides watching the surf ever present from our front yard is cleaning and tending the gardens our New family rooms are under construction which will be a great asset for surfing families with Nias on the bucket list!

Thursday 20 Apr: Calm clear morning, no swell increase with waves remaining at consistent 3 foot on the outside point, steady offshore flowing out of the bay makes for crisp glassy waves wrapping the point for the 6 guys on the early morning session expected swell increase will be is eagerly awaited but now no noticeable increase in any fly in wave hunters. Conditions remain the same during the day, a noticeable current increase and water colour change as the first sign of a rising swell
Friday 21 Apr: A crisp offshore morning in the bay, surf showing signs of increase in consistency with more frequent set waves, a strong surge and current development increasing around the reef edge and keyholes. Wind during the day osculating to the SSW creating bumpy and more challenging conditions, for the less experienced surfers that are here. Arvo starts to glass off waves are steady 5-foot max set size
We have a couple of guests arrive off a surf charter boat “Seriti” as a land based stop over at Lagundri Sorake. Rodger an older surfer was in Nias Island in the late seventies (1978) stayed in the original “Jamburae Hut”, the first place built to accommodate surfers that were taking the adventure to find the perfect right hander that was just filtering through the travelling surfing communities,
39 years later, well Rodger has returned with his wife and shocked and impressed at the changes, but realistically loving (especially his wife) the comforts of the KabuNohi after spending 2 weeks on a surf charter boat with younger surfers, afternoon drinks on the deck any one? And that our place is firmly anchored to the ground!
Saturday 22 Apr: Smaller waves with offshore conditions, early morning outside at 3-4 feet, onshore picks up during the day thinning the crowd out for a few rippers to float the foam and airs on a slightly rising swell.
Rodger is enjoying the challenge of the Nias wave after the memories of the years back, catching a few sizable sets and for a 63-year-old not doing too bad, welcome to the #greygrommet team Rodger. Sunday 23 Apr: Rain and thunder storms during the night backing off in the morning light. Surf on the point remaining a steady 4 foot with some infrequent bigger sets a little morning sickness bump cleaning up latter in the morning.
Onshore Wind holds most of the day finally backing off late in the afternoon, swell showing more signs of increasing with some bigger 5 to 6 foot sets late afternoon as the wind backs off.
Monday 24 Apr: Kick in swell overnight with a 5-6 foot waves and bigger but infrequent sets, new moon tide surge pushing water high on the reef, wind slight offshore which if holds will make for an interesting day.
